Nigrini’s (1977) description and illustrations of the Siphocampe lineata group conform to the Gulf of California tests which have smooth abdomens without indentations; thus, the Gulf forms are identical with Tricolocampe cylindrica Haeckel, which Nigrini (1977) placed in synonymy with her Siphocampe lineata group. The illustrations of the species listed in the synonymy for the Gulf of California conform to the Tricolocampe cylindrica form and to Nigrini’s (1977, p. 254) emended definition of the genus Siphocampe—“Artostrobiid having three segments the third of which is more or less cylindrical and may develop a series of rounded constrictions with transverse rows of pores…”
