Euchitonia elegans/furcata group

New comment/discussion

Euchitonia elegans/furcata group
Richard N. Benson (21/11/2003)

Remarks. As noted by Boltovskoy (1998, fig. 15.70) Euchitonia elegans intergrades smoothly with Euchitonia furcata, and, as end members, the distal tips of arms taper in E. elegans, whereas in E. furcata the arm terminations are club-shaped and more blunt. Neither “species” can be identified from among the numerous incompletely developed tests of this group, but the distinct hyaline central region readily identifies the group.
